The Las Vegas Ballet Institute (LVBI) offers a comprehensive dance program for both serious dancers and those seeking to explore their artistic side. Centrally located in the heart of Las Vegas, LVBI provides high-quality classical ballet training for all levels, from ages 3 through adult.

We offer:

Dance training from pre-ballet to pre-professional levels
Emphasis on the Italian Cecchetti and Russian Vaganova methods
Competitive dance teams in ballet, pointe, character, modern, and contemporary dance

Our Style

Our classes are taught by professional dance instructors who are experts in the Cecchetti and Vaganova methods. Each instructor brings a wealth of national and international experience, a degree in dance, and a lifelong professional career to their teaching. We aim to provide age- and level-appropriate instruction that enhances each student’s skill and confidence in a structured, nurturing environment.

Classes

Kids Ballet

We teach ballet with a focus on mastering correct fundamentals, discovering the joy of dance, and nurturing each child’s unique personality. Using the Cecchetti method, we ensure a safe and effective approach to ballet training for every child.

Friday: 4:00 to 4:45 pm / Japanese 4:45 – 5:30 pm

Intermediate & Advanced Ballet

This class is designed for teens who are serious about ballet and aspire to become professionals. We cover everything from basic to advanced techniques, preparing you for pre-professional levels and competitions, including pointe shoe lessons and private lessons.

Sunday: 10:30 to 11:30 am

Character Ballet

In our character class, we teach fundamentals and advanced technique of upper body movement and expression necessary for ballet, while exploring various styles through character ballet.

Sundays: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Adult Ballet

Correct posture strengthens the core and helps maintain youth and health! Our adult ballet class focuses on improving posture, achieving a healthy body, and developing a strong and beautiful physique through target exercises.

Friday: 12:30 – 1:30 pm

Contemporary Dance

In our contemporary class, we provide comprehensive instructions from fundamentals to advance techniques, focusing on strengthening inner muscles and enhancing flexibility essentials for dancers. By incorporating various movements and styles, we cultivate creativity and self-expression.

Sundays: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm

Private Lessons

We offer private lessons for competition preparation (such as YAGP, CDC, etc.) and additional lessons focused on building a strong, well-aligned body and developing proper technique from foundational to basic to advanced levels.

Our Faculty

Yumi Materov

Yumi Materov has been teaching and coaching classical ballet for the past 12 years. Originally from Kyoto, Japan. She began her pre-professional ballet training at Terada Ballet Art School, focusing on the Vaganova style. Seeking further development, she attended summer school at Alberta Ballet School in Calgary, Canada. Later, she moved to Edmonton, Canada, to join the professional division of the Edmonton Ballet School and start learning the Cecchetti style until she graduated from high school.

Continuing her education, she attended the Royal Winnipeg Ballet School in Winnipeg, Canada, where she completed the Teacher Training Program over four years. During this time, she successfully passed the Grade 8-10 Cecchetti major exams, earning an Associate Diploma in teaching Cecchetti, as well as a teacher’s certificate from RWB upon graduating from the TTP. She also took on multiple teaching and assistant teaching roles in both the recreational and professional divisions at RWB and local studios.

After graduating, she relocated to Orange County, CA. There, she taught ballet, pointe, variation, and character dance at multiple studios. She also coached solo and pas de deux for multiple competitions, served as a ballet mistress for a youth ballet company, and choreographed ensemble pieces, contributing significantly to the local dance community.

Lisa Berg

Originally from South Africa, Lisa Berg has been dedicated to teaching the art of ballet for over 20 years. Beginning her dance journey at the tender age of three, Lisa’s passion and commitment to ballet have led her to train in several prestigious styles, including Checcetti, the Royal Academy of Dance, and the Vaganova method.

Lisa holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Musical Theater, which has provided her with a solid foundation in both the technical and performative aspects of dance. Her professional career flourished in New York City, where she danced with various esteemed companies and productions, honing her craft and expanding her repertoire.

As an experienced and knowledgeable ballet instructor, Lisa brings her extensive training and professional experience to her teaching. She is dedicated to fostering a love for ballet in her students, emphasizing both technical excellence and expressive performance.
